Punk Rock Mag review: "Shit For Brains"

March 1st, 2024

Some more new press, a very nice review from the Costa Rica online punk zine Punk Rock Mag. Thank you for the kind words! Original review:

Alright, let’s dive into the gritty sounds of Brooklyn, New York’s very own “Demoted.” Starting out as a one-man band, these guys dropped their album “Shit For Brains” back in May 2022, and let me tell you, it’s a raw, no-holds-barred ride through the hardcore/punk/garage scene of the Big Apple.

Clocking in at 9 tracks, this album hits you like a punch to the gut, drawing clear inspiration from the likes of Minor Threat. With lightning-fast riffs, loads of guitar distortion, and abrupt changes that’ll have you catching your breath one moment and then diving headfirst into a wave of adrenaline.

You can practically feel the DIY spirit coursing through every track. It’s that unmistakable New York grit, honed in basement shows and dive bars, that permeates every riff and lyric. “Demoted” isn’t holding anything back—they’re throwing themselves into the fray with all the ferocity of a Brooklyn street brawl.

So, if you’re looking for a taste of authentic NYC shit, give these guys a listen. “Demoted” is bringing the noise, and they’re not taking prisoners. Crank up the volume, and brace yourself for a wild ride through the mean streets of Brooklyn. It’s gonna be loud, it’s gonna be raw, and it’s gonna be one hell of a good time.
